Course Description:
Abrasive Wheels are covered by the PUWER 1998 Regulations and by the HSE guidance (HSG 17) 2000 Safety in the use of abrasive wheels which requires personnel who use these types of equipment to receive training. This course is designed give all relevant personnel the knowledge to operate and change abrasive wheels in accordance with good practice.

Aims: By the end of this course personnel will:
* Know how to avoid hazardous abrasive wheels operations.
* Be able identify the components and characteristics of an abrasive wheel.
* Show in practice the safe use of abrasive and grinding wheels
* Know the requirements under the Health & Safety at Work Act and other relevant legislation with regards to abrasive wheels.

Learning Objectives:
* How to operate abrasive wheels safely.
* Responsibilities as imposed by regulations governing the use of abrasive wheels
* The functions of various types of abrasive wheel
* Understand the importance of wearing the correct protective equipment
* To be able to report any faults or unsafe conditions which will impede on the use of abrasive wheels.

Personnel attending the course will receive a certificate of competence for Abrasive Wheels.
